Why Sell Through NeedleBeasts?

Sell Your Machine!

Frequently asked questions about selling your machine

How does consignment with NeedleBeasts work?

It’s pretty simple:

  1. We evaluate your machine. We look at the model, age, condition, accessories, current market demand, and expected resale value.
  2. We discuss your options. If your machine is a good fit for NeedleBeasts, we'll discuss the recommended selling price, expected service needs, consignment terms, and what you can expect to receive when it sells.
  3. We complete a consignment agreement. Everything is documented before we take possession of your machine.
  4. We prepare the machine for sale. Your machine is inspected and, when needed, serviced so it can be sold with confidence.
  5. We market and display it. Machines may be listed on NeedleBeasts.com, promoted through our marketing channels, and displayed at one of our affiliated retail locations.
  6. We handle the buyer and transaction. You don't have to answer messages, meet strangers, negotiate payment, or handle the sales transaction.
  7. You get paid. After the machine sells and the transaction is completed, you receive the remaining proceeds after the agreed-upon consignment fee, service costs, and any other charges authorized in your consignment agreement.
What types of machines does NeedleBeasts accept?

We primarily work with quality sewing machines, embroidery machines, sewing/embroidery combination machines, sergers, quilting machines, and related equipment.

Acceptance depends on the machine's age, condition, brand, market demand, expected selling price, and availability of parts and service.

Not every machine will be a good candidate for consignment, but we're happy to evaluate it.

How do you determine what my machine is worth?

We consider several factors, including the specific model, age, cosmetic and mechanical condition, included accessories, service history, current demand, and actual resale market.

Our goal is to establish a realistic selling price, not simply the highest advertised price we can find online. A machine priced correctly has a much better chance of actually selling.

Do you buy machines outright?

In some situations, we may offer to purchase a machine directly rather than consign it. Availability and offers depend on the particular machine, condition, demand, and current inventory.

A direct purchase will typically be less than the amount you might ultimately receive through consignment because NeedleBeasts assumes the inventory, service, marketing, and resale risk.

Does my machine need to be serviced before I consign it?

Not necessarily. We will evaluate its condition first.

If service is needed before the machine can be offered for sale, we'll discuss the expected service cost with you. Any applicable service charges will be handled according to your consignment agreement and are generally deducted from the proceeds when the machine sells.

Why do you service machines before selling them?

A used sewing machine is more than something sitting on a shelf. It needs to sew.

Inspection and service help us identify problems, properly represent the machine's condition, and give buyers greater confidence when purchasing a pre-owned machine.

Do I need the original box and accessories?

No, although they can help.

Original accessories, embroidery units, hoops, feet, manuals, cases, power cords, pedals, extension tables, software, and original packaging can increase a machine's desirability and sometimes its value.

Please bring everything you have with the machine when it is evaluated.

Where will my machine be displayed?

Consigned machines may be displayed at one of our affiliated retail locations and listed for sale through NeedleBeasts.com.

We may move inventory between participating locations when we believe another location provides a better opportunity to sell the machine.

How long will it take to sell my machine?

There is no guaranteed timeframe.

Some machines sell quickly, while specialized, older, higher-priced, or less common machines can take longer. Brand, model, condition, price, seasonality, and customer demand all affect how quickly a machine sells.

Our goal is not simply to list your machine. Our goal is to sell it at a reasonable market price.

Can I change my mind after consigning my machine?

Withdrawal and early termination terms are covered in your consignment agreement.

Because NeedleBeasts may invest time and money into inspecting, servicing, photographing, listing, displaying, and marketing a machine, certain costs may apply if a machine is withdrawn before the agreed consignment period ends.

What happens if my machine doesn't sell?

If a machine does not sell within the initial consignment period, we may recommend adjusting the price, extending the consignment period, or returning the machine to you.

We'll work with you based on the market response and the terms of your consignment agreement.

What happens when my machine sells?

NeedleBeasts handles the transaction with the buyer.

Once the sale is completed and any applicable transaction requirements have been satisfied, we calculate your proceeds based on the final selling price, less the agreed consignment fee, service charges, and any other authorized costs.

The remaining balance is paid to you according to the payment terms in your consignment agreement.
